Ledger Nano X in 2021 – What’s New and How to Not get Scammed – My Updated Review

July 2, 2021 by CV.

This review is NOT sponsored and contains affiliate links. I’ve been a user of Ledger hardware wallets since 2017, and today I’d like to post my updated review on the Nano X. In this review, I’d like to introduce the wallet to those who are new to the product, as well as talk about the features that have been added since 2018. Since my main focus is security, I will be also sharing some critical information that will hopefully help you stay safe and avoid getting scammed. Ledger Nano X Review 2021 What’s a Ledger Nano X? The Nano X is a hardware wallet that supports over 1500 different assets, and can store up to 100 of them at the same time. It supports all of the mainstream cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, … [Read More...]

Chia Coin Review

June 13, 2021 by Ciprian V.

You’ve heard about Chia before – some say it’s the new gold mine, others label it just another shitcoin and move on. Unlike certain sensationalists out there, I took the time to follow and study the project for a bit before I decided to write this review. Hopefully, it will help you to better understand whether Chia is for you. This is going to be part of my Chia series where I will be testing different hardware, and assembling Chia farming and plotting rigs, so if you’re interested in that, make sure to follow me. Chia Network Review What is Chia? The Basics Chia is a new coin that aims to solve some of the issues we have with most of the currently used cryptocurrencies. Namely, the… [Read More...]

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Comes With Reduced Mining Hashrate Too

June 8, 2021 by admin

Just like the more recently released Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 that came with mining hashrate limiter enforced by Nvidia, the new GeForce RTX 3080 Ti also came out “with a reduced Ethereum hash rate” making them less desirable for miners. The just released Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is almost equivalent in terms of specifications to an RTX 3090 GPU, but with half the video memory, so only 12GB GDDR6X instead of the full 24GB. For the new RTX 3080 Ti in terms of CUDA cores there is a very slight reduction and memory clocks too, but the memory bus remains 384-bit, so in theory performance wise it should be very similar to an RTX 3090 and that goes not only for mining, but for gaming as well. There is the… [Read More...]

Bitmain Teasing With the Upcoming AntMiner E9 Ethereum Miner

May 24, 2021 by admin

Bitmain is teasing with the apparently soon to be launched new Ethash miner called Antminer E9 that is supposed to be offering 3 GH/s mining hashrate with 2556 Watts of power usage and 0.85 J/M power efficiency. This is what they claim to be the equivalent of 32 RTX 3080 graphics cards and it roughly is in terms of performance. So, the Antminer E9 is going to be offering similar performance to 32x Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 GPU mining rig mining Ethereum with GPUs optimized for close to 100 MH/s hashrate, but with power usage at just about 1/3 of what the GPUs will need. Hopefully with a price that is much less compared to how much these video cards will cost you currently, though there is still no exact launch date… [Read More...]

Raptoreum (RTM) Crypto Progect and Its GhostRider CPU Algorithm

May 24, 2021 by admin

The Raptoreum (RTM) crypto project has been in development for quite some time now and just recently has officially launched its mainnet. The goal of Raptoreum is to provides a fast and secure cryptocurrency that anybody can easily use, but even more than that it is building a simple to use asset platform that will allow anybody to tokenize anything (non fungible tokens) with just a few clicks. RTM features POW mining with a custom algorithm called Ghostrider, currently CPU-only as well as smartnodes. The Ghostrider algorithm is a combination of algorithms from the X16R and CryptoNight families, cycled in random and not so random patterns used to gain consensus on the on chain generation and transaction of coins. Although the Ghostride algorithm is currently… [Read More...]

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 With Full Unrestricted ETH Mining Hashrate, But Only With Single GPU in a Gaming PC

March 16, 2021 by admin

It seems that a workaround to the artificially enforced hashrate limiter for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 GPUs mining Ethereum has been discovered and it is pretty simple apparently. You just need to use the developer driver version 470.05 where there is apparently no hashrate limiting being applied, unlike with the regular GeForce video driver that you would normally download for these video cards. This has been reported by some users and we can confirm that it is indeed working and you can get the full mining hashrate for Ethereum with this driver, however there is still a catch… read on below with the latest updates on what and how it works. We are getting 47 MH/s Ethash mining hashrate using the Nvidia developer driver version 470.05 with PhoenixMiner mining… [Read More...]

AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT Ethereum Mining Hashrate And More

March 13, 2021 by admin

We got a tip with the actual mining performance that the new AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT GPUs deliver for Ethereum (ETH) mining and as you can see on the screenshot above you can get around 43.5 MH/s hashrate with the stock settings shown on the right via GPU-Z. No surprises here and pretty much on par with what we have assumed the RX 6700 XT would be capable of, based on its specifications that are very similar to the ones of the performance limited Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 GPU. The good news on the new AMD GPU is that there is no artificial performance limiter present, so Ethereum mining hashrate will be around 43 MH/s stock and with overclock of the video memory up to about 47-48 MH/s… [Read More...]

Pre-orders Are Apparently Open for Nvidia CMP 30HX Mining GPUs

March 11, 2021 by admin

It seems that Nvidia is getting ready to start shipping their CMP HX Dedicated GPUs for Professional Crypto Mining that were announced last month. The company is apparently taking pre-orders from their partners for deliveries starting probably in early April for the lowest-end mining model – NVIDIA CMP 30HX D6 6G. Nvidia has rated the 6GB CMP 30HX GPU at 26 MH/s with 125W of power usage for Ethereum mining, though with further optimizations 28-32 MH/s could be possible (like on RTX 2060 or GTX 1660 models). The not so good news here, as we have expected unfortunately, is that you will be getting a “pro mining GPU” that is more-expensive, but comes without a video outputs, just 90 days warranty instead of 2-3 years and at… [Read More...]

TechPowerUp GPU-Z 2.37.0 With Nvidia GDDR6X Memory Temperature Monitoring

March 10, 2021 by admin

It seems that the HWiNFO tool is no longer the only software that allows you to check the GDDR6X video memory temperature on Nvidia RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 GPUs. The latest TechPowerUp GPU-Z 2.37.0 apparently also supports the display of the temperature of the hot GDDR6X memory chips and not only that, but also features support and reports the GPU Hot Spot temperature as well. It is interesting to note however that these two features apparently were left unannounced as getting added in the changelog of the latest version that has been released about two weeks ago. Frankly it was by luck that we found out that the GDDR6X Memory Operating Temperature and Hot Spot monitoring support has been introduced in the latest GPU-Z… [Read More...]

NVidia is ‘Nerfing’ the RTX 30xx GPU’s for Ethereum Mining – It Comes with Its Downsides

March 7, 2021 by Ciprian V.

Recently, NVidia announced in their blog that the company is implementing a new “feature” to their RTX 3060 and future cards. This new implementation will detect mining-related operations and limit the GPU resources, thus reducing mining speed. What’s going on? So far, the only affected cryptocurrency is Ethereum. The hashrate reduction is a solid 50%. According to NVidia, the reason for this ‘nerf’ is to decrease the demand for new-gen GPUs in the mining community, and fight the current gaming GPU shortage. we’re taking an important step to help ensure GeForce GPUs end up in the hands of gamers.Nvidia NVidia however still wants to support the mining community. In order to do that, the company announced the NVidia CMP – a GPU-like card without … [Read More...]

The Sony PlayStation 5 Game Console Mining Ethereum with almost 100 MH/s is Not True!

March 3, 2021 by admin

The last few days there seems to be an interesting photo of what is said to be PlayStation 5 (PS5) game console hacked to mine Ethereum (ETH) achieving a hashrate of 98.76 MH/s with a custom mining software. The image has apparently originated from China and the text is in Chinese, but it turns out this was a fake image and the 2D barcode reveals the joke somebody tried to play on everyone. If you read the 2D barcode with your smartphone it will reveal the following text in Chinese language: ????????????? For people that do not understand a word from the above, passing it through Google Translate to see what it means in English translates to the following: There is no such software for entertainment hahaha… [Read More...]

RTX 3080 Mining Hashrate Review

March 1, 2021 by Ciprian V.

The RTX 3080 is widely praised as one of the best gaming GPU’s to the date. Not only it’s more powerful than the RTX 2080, it’s also cheaper, making it undeniable a better bang for the buck. Since the card is only a few months old, little is known about its mining performance. Luckily for me, one of my friends happened to assemble a monster gaming rig with an Gigabyte RTX 3080 VISION OC 10G, and a new gen Ryzen 5 5600x. That beast of a PC can run Call of Duty Warzone at 240 fps average. The man was nice enough to let me test his GPU on several mining algos. Note: I will be getting my hands on the RTX 3090 soon to benchmark it and test it in my rigs… [Read More...]

New AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT GPU To Be Announced on March 3rd

March 1, 2021 by admin

AMD has announced that on March 3rd at 11am ET will be introducing its newest addition to the Radeon RX family of high-performance graphic cards. The announcement will be a part of the Where Gaming Begins: Episode 3 online event and everyone is expecting to see the Radeon RX 6700 XT revealed and maybe the Radeon RX 6700 (non-XT model as well). The rumours circling around claim that the RX 6700 XT will have 40 compute units, 2560 cores, and 12 GB 192-bit GDDR6 video memory onboard while the non-XT model RX 6700 will have only 36 compute units and 2304 cores, but also equipped with 12GB GDDR6 video memory and a 192-bit wide memory bus (the VRAM could also e just 6GB, hopefully still with 192-bit bus though). The March 3rd will mark… [Read More...]

Mining Performance of Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3060 OC Edition

February 27, 2021 by admin

The new Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 video cards are here and we managed to buy one quickly while there was some stock left to do some mining benchmarks and tests. We already know that mining performance for the RTX 3060 is limited for Ethereum, but what else can you mine with the full performance is something that we also wanted to find out for sure. As we have predicted availability and pricing of the RTX 3060 is off the charts as people expected these GPUs to be the sweet spot for mining Ethereum – high hashrate and low price. Neither of these did turn out to be true however and stock availability is low, so buying even just one of these new GPUs was pretty hard and we had to… [Read More...]

Should You Be Gaming or Crypto Mining with Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 GPUs

February 26, 2021 by admin

Today, February 25th, marks the day that the newest mid-range GeForce gaming GPU from Nvidia is supposed to be released on the market and both crypto miners and gamers are eagerly anticipating this release. The release of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 GPU with 12GB of GDDR6 video memory is definitely an interesting event, but should gamers and miners be so enthusiastic about the new model? Well, neither gamers, nor miners will most likely be so happy after what they will see today?-?you can expect to see high prices and limited availability and the main reason for that is Ethereum mining of course. Up until very recently crypto miners were expecting the new GeForce RTX 3060 GPU to be the next big thing in mining and more… [Read More...]

Optimized Ethereum Mining Settings for Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 3070, RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 GPUs

February 25, 2021 by admin

We’ve tested and played around with a couple of Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series of GPUs already, so that we can compile a list with the optimized mining settings for mining Ethereum with RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 3070, RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 GPUs. There could of course be some variation from card to card due to manufacturers making different versions with higher TDP levels and higher default clocks, but generally the settings below should work pretty good on any make and model from the above mentioned ones. Some further tweaking could help in maximizing performance or optimizing power usage for a specific card, but the settings we give here should be a very good starting point for achieving optimal performance at reduced power usage when suing them for mining Ethereum… [Read More...]

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 is Indeed Limited for Crypto Mining

February 23, 2021 by admin

It seems that Nvidia did manage to keep their promise to make the new GeForce RTX 3060 GPU limited for crypto mining and thus widely available for gamers as with reduced performance it will not be attractive for miners. We got some sound information regarding the actual performance for mining use for the new GeForce RTX 3060 that is expected to be available starting February 25th or in just a few days. According to Nvidia the new video drivers for the RTX 3060 GPUs are designed to detect specific attributes of the Ethereum cryptocurrency mining algorithm, and will limit the hashrate, or cryptocurrency mining performance to half of what they will normally do. Essentially you will be getting half the hashrate you normally would if the card is running at… [Read More...]
